K&N intake tube on NBS
I've posted this to the FB page with a lot of good support. I'm just looking to share info with anyone looking for a clean/oem+ option. It's mentioned in the Sticky, a quick search found a little info, but the specifics are harder to track down. This truck is just my daily driver, so obviously this doesn't apply for the racetruck crowd. It's just cheaper than most intakes on the market. With a little extra effort, it's also one of the cleanest options available.
Parts:
-K&N 08740 Intake tube $50
-Spectre 97701 22 degree 4" coupler $18ish
-4' straight coupler $10-15 (found mine on ebay)
-K&N panel filter (had it laying around from last truck)
-4" Hose clamps (obviously)
Overall cost for me was under $100. At the time I bought the couplers on sale, so I paid $80ish by the time I was finished.
Disclaimer:
This isn't a direct drop-in/bolt-on. It requires a little dremel effort to fit properly. I took off about 2" from the top corner at the MAF end of the tube to clear the bend. The fan shroud was clearanced to fit as well, but does not interfere with the fan blades whatsoever. Make sure to wipe away any shavings from the tube before final installation.
Hopefully this helps more people find a cheap alternative. Obviously it's not reinventing bolt-on performance out of a 10+ year old truck....I just felt like sharing.

Thank you. I was debating whether or not to go with the Airaid tube, but for the price...this one was hard to beat. This truck isn't my priority, so penny pinching helps fund the go-fast parts for the Corvette and G8. I just loved how this little project turned out.
