I thump very fast at 70 mph. I am only heard when driven next to a wall. When I speed up I thump faster, when I slow down I thump slower, but I am not related to engine speed only to ground speed. I am not coming from the tires and I don't think I'm coming from the engine. I set off knock sensors but I am not a knock.

What am I?


Hint I am NOT the busted and blown to bits sway bar end link that InfernoHoe Had to replace before right before work and "ruined" his favorite fishing shirt

Does it change from 2wd to 4WD??

Can you lift the vehicle on 4 jack stands and run the truck and see what you can hear from under it??

Hey FFTP, Thanks for the reply. It is only 2 wheel drive. Also I have been underneath the truck while the motor was running and aside from a ticking kind of noise from the motor no tap, knock, thump, boink, boom, nothing. I don't have any jackstands to actually run it on. It is only when the vehicle is in motion though. Checked the easy things like tires and suspension to no avail. Ill see if I can fashion up some stands and check it tomorrow morning In gear.

DS balance? I dont understand what you mean. Are you talking about the tires?

Let somebody else drive it while you ride in the back with the windows down and hunt for the root cause of the noise that way.

Tried and failed cant get close enough to even begin to figure out where aside from under the truck
