I want a "Low end torque cam" for my 04 4.8L
I have done quite a bit of research and need some advice on several questions.
First one...is there a difference between an ls2 cam and an ls1 cam? I have heard that the cam sensor is in the back of one of them and not sure if it is true. If they are the same, there is one on ebay that is from an 05 GTO and it says it has a duration of 207/218 ( I am assuming a 6.0)?
Second...would the previously mentioned cam be a torque cam for an 04 4.8?
Third...I am also looking at the comp cams 206/212 and the 212/218 cam for my truck. A guy (I dont remember who) said that if I went with the 206 cam, I would be sorry but didnt leave any other info after that. What is your opinion?
I know that the lope is a great thing to have and would love to have a mad lope but I know that only comes with the high end cams. I drive my truck red light to red light most of the time in crazy traffic . But every three months I make a trip east, so I need something really driveable and great economy (slight to no lope unfortunately).
This is a daily driven truck that will never see the track.

Stock torque converter? If so, none of the above. Get a Cam Motion 205/212 high-lift cam like the one in my sig.
Alternatively, there is a GM part number (12574519) with almost the same specs, and costing around $250: 204/211, .520/.520, 116

I have the Comp 206/212 on a 114lsa in a 5.3, so it's really tame...no lope at all. It's great for a daily driver with the stock stall and a definite improvement over stock. The Comp 212/218 is a very popular cam from what I've learned here and at ls1tech, although I don't have first hand experience with it.

I assume that a 6.0 cam out of the SSR would be a really nice cam in my 4.8, but will this cam be more torque or would it be an all around great cam for my daily driver. Will it work in my truck? I have seen many different cams on ebay and the latest one is out of a 05 GTO LS2? GM bumpstick would be really nice on the wallet, just need to know if they will work in my LS1 block? But I am not limited to just GM. More bang for the buck is what I am all about.

IMO if you're doing a cam swap, with all of the work involved do it right and get the cam you want.

The LS2 cam won't work in an LS1 based motor without swapping cam sensors and parts under the front cover to LS2 specific parts.
The LS6 cams are notorious for having a very soft low end, but nice upper rpm power. If you put a LS6 cam (either model) in a 4.8, expect the low end to suffer greatly with the stock converter. The LS6 is anti-torque.
To make more torque, you will generally need an aggressive lobe with short advertized duration and high lift. The idea is to snap open the valves and let as much air in as possible, then close it quickly so it can make make higher cylinder pressure.
