Question How to tell which starter? 5.3L V8

I have a motor originally out of a 2001 Tahoe 5.3L and the junkyard didn't give me any accessories with the motor. I was at Napa today looking for a brand new starter and the counter jockey asked if it was a starter with 1 short bolt and one long bolt, or 2 long bolts. I didn't know which to answer.

This may be a dumb question to some, but how can I tell?

Also, this is the eBay starter I was looking at. It's got a little more cranking torque than the replacement Napa brand starter and is a helluva lot cheaper with no core charge.

I know it may be of no use to you whatsoever, but my 03 Silverado SS has 2 long bolts holding on the starter.

You can always go to the dealer and have them punch it up on the computer for ya. You may have to go to them for the bolts anyway,...don't know if you can buy them at the local parts store. I am sure you can find some that will work though.

The dealership will probably want my VIN number or something identifying the Tahoe, of which I don't have. All I got is the motor.

O'reillys has a Help! section with starter bolts. I work at one here in Texas.

Sounds like 2 long bolts is the commonality.

By the way silveradokidd_4518, I love the Avatar. Nothing better than a hot army chick.

One short bolt one long bolt? What was he looking up a 78 small block? I don't know of any of the LS based motors that use two different length starter bolts. Though I don't suppose I know everything.
