Basically... U-joints connect the drive shaft to the tranny, and the rear differential. You know they're going when you hear a clunking noise when you put it in gear.

the stock 1310's are plenty strong....they should hold up to slicks and a sticky track
I believe the 1500HD's and up have the Spicer 1350's.....it would take a shitload of power to break those....I can't break mine in 4-lo with all 4 tires hooking up on dry pavement...not real good for the t-case, tranny and u-joints, but I thought I had a u-joint going bad and wanted to find out (I didn't)
