Talking Stock LM7 Getting Heads, Cam & Intake.

Hey Guys! I am completely new here and sorta new to understanding engines. I have a 03 Cateye LM7 2wd ext cab that for the most part is stock minus shortys & cai. I am looking to go with a Brian Tooley BTR Truck Cam Kit, Stage III Camshaft Specs (BTR31824100): 218/224 .553"/.553" 110 LSA with LS7 Style lifters & a tbss manifold & 92mm TB with 80lbs injectors? Like I said previously, I am really new to this so I sorta have a idea where I am going but then again I don't. I am looking to stay completely stock bottom end & want to be sure I don't blow a rod lol. What supporting mods would I have to get with a set up like this & about how much to the crank am I looking at? If anything I have stated is wrong please bare with me.

I feel those injectors are a little bigger than needed as is the cam although it should sound good. The first thing I would do is sell the shorty headers and get long tubes then wait for a cam package to come on sale on Black Friday. The TBSS is always a great upgrade and don't forget pretty much anything you do you will need a tune for it to actually make a difference.

Whats your future goals?
80# is way over kill unless your planning on going with boost in the future. 36# flex fuel injectors would be ideal for what you looking for.
Stock torque converter? a simple converter would make quite a difference.

it’s my daily so i don’t plan on going full build & plan on staying N/A, i just want something that is quick & not a big money pit, at the moment my trans is slipping so i plan on going with a built trans or for the mean time a trans with a converter, corvette servos & so, nothing crazy. what converter do you recommend i go with for a daily? i kinda figured 80lbs is to much aswell

Make sure whatever injectors you get have data available.

Finish the exhaust, those injectors are too big, then get a tune, and don't bother with the trans rebuild. Everyone on here says long tubes only, but I would question that considering you already have them.

The trans is a known weak point in general, and if you tow, this will only make things worse. AT THE VERY LEAST, read up on a 4L80 swap, and see if you can talk yourself into it.

You're nowhere near pushing the bottom end.

We say it because we have seen the dyno graphs support it. LS motors really love long tubes. Shorties and stock manifolds pretty much flow the same

Long tubes are a proven 30-40hp gain

Shorties are an "advertised" 7-10hp gain

Choice is always yours, but I don't see a single "big power" NA build on shorties. When LS7 guys go for max effort combo's, they aren't rocking shorties. When ppl build 400whp 5.3, they aren't rockin shorties

That's because everybody wants a longer tube.
