Angry Headers Finally Installed...

Worst experience EVER. 3 bolts were already broken, busted an engine coolant temp sensor. and had to have a bung installed because the passenger side header bung was welded closed. (busted an impact bit trying to get it out.) missed 2 days of work AND definably could have lost my marriage and or been sent to jail. (Wife was my stand in buddy for this project) Sliced my finger on the gaskets. and to top all of this off the header is melting my number 3 spark plug wire. I have done a lot of work on vehicles and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. Had to throw on my stock muffler because it was awesomely loud. Before the headers i was runnning without a muffler. loud but not to loud. was pulled over once because the officer said he thought a had some road rage going on. talked for a min and he laughed and let me go. now its so quiet I can hear my self breathe. I no no like. OH OH OH But i can hear a tap/ flutter coming from the drivers side bottom of the motor. I suppose Ill post a different thread to figure out wtf that is. All I need is more issues <---- Sarcasm...

Wow. Actually I had read so many stories like yours that when I planned to put JBA shorties on my 99 Sonoma I planned a 3 day weekend. One day to take off the left manifold, one day to take off the right manifold and one day to put on the headers.

Spousal support -10 because I did it Thanksgiving weekend. :O

It was well worth the cost to have someone else install my current headers.

Yea I'll definitely set aside at least 2 days for any future headers. Or at least do them in the fall or winter.

Similar experience with my headers. 2 broken bolts from the factory. Broke the coolant temp sensor extracting one. Had to cut the stock Y pipe with a sawzall the get it out. THEN the new LPP headers hit the front driveshaft AND the steering shaft. Couldn't put the stock back on since the Y pipe was in two, so used a band clamp to pull the header away from the driveshaft and just dealt with it hitting the steering shaft for a few months before I could pull the header off and dent it for clearance.

And mine was crazy "wake up the neighborhood" loud with the one big body 22" Magnaflow on it. Put a 7" Magnaflow round behind that to make it reasonable.

Fun stuff.

Stories like this are why I chose to spend the extra cash on dynatech's. They're getting installed next week. Fingers crosed

That's almost as bad as my experiences with Kooks.
