How much louder are trucks getting after header install??

My truck has stock manifolds w/ cats currently and the exhaust is the perfect amount of loudness....

and just ordered some speed engineering long tubes, and I'm wondering if I should just order a 12" resonator in preparation of the truck becoming way louder...

Put cats back on it. It'll help cut the rasp/loudness some. The resonator was a wise choice.

Don't dump the exhaust. It will make it loud. Stick with a tailpipe in the stock exit location. Mine is that way except it's a blow down.

A little bit, but the main thing is you will hear a lot more valvetrain noise inside the cab from the thinner walls of the header tubes vs the cast iron manifolds.

^^this^^ But I used to it already. I still have the OEM single exhaust pipe but with a Flowmaster 3 chamber muffler where the stock one was.

I have installed headers in three vehicles. Headers will make your vehicle significantly louder even with cats.

My Yukon had Kooks headers with cats and stock muffler and that was actually moderately loud. It didn't bother me but I was careful at night.

coat and wrap the headers. it will quiet the valve train noise significantly.

embrace the valve train clatter! or turn up your radio...I've run open manifolds and open longtubes. longtubes are much louder
