Yeah, I don't think going from a total cross sectional area of 11 sq inches on the primaries down to under 5 sq inches is helping me. Would need a collector diameter close to 4 inches to have no restriction. Even larger with larger primaries. 4.5" for 2.25" primaries.

Some useful calculations here: custom header fab

Now....should I care about equal length?

the idea behind perfectly designed, equal length, correct diameter bla bla bla headers is to scavenge the combustion gasses from the chamber. with a force fed engine oure pushing the exhaust gasses out with the new intake charge. all you want to do with a blown engine is get the gasses away from the exhaust port. bigger = better

with a NA engine, header design is VERY important. with a boosted one, not so much

what if you are not running big HP numbers? MY blown 5.3 is right around 500 hp at the tires. I am currently running stainless works 1 3/4 into a 2.5 collector into full dual 3' w/ x pipe..i want to get some 1 7/8 w/ 3.o collector but am afraid ill kill my daily driver responsiveness . any thoughts on this??

I think it would the same with a merge collector like my ARH's and probably not much different with a straight 3" collector which would help you up top.
