Default Headers = exhaust restriction?

At what point can headers(size, collector style, etc.) become a restriction on a blown application? Wondering if my ARH 1 7/8 x 3" could be a bottleneck for over 1000 HP.

I don't have a scientific answer, but if I ever get my 4.0 whipple project under way I am going to have some 2" or 2 1/8" primary headers with 3.5" collector headers custom made for mine. Should be 1100ish I think.

I don't think you can really go too big with a blower setup like yours. I have been bugging speed engineering to make some 2" headers and even sent Spike performance a message about it but neither seem interested.

Would be nice to have room for larger primaries and I am thinking that you really don't want a collector restriction with a big blower. A large straight collector would be better.

kooks has a 2" f body header that might fit. the kooks 1 7/8 stepped to 2" fit my 2001 Silverado.

yea the 2" with a 3.5" collector seem like a pretty damn good option for insane power...

With my 1-3/4" obx headers , 2.5 " y pipe , into a full 3.5" out the tail pipe,
I just saw 10-20 psi back pressure at roughly 15psi .

Hell yes i need larger mid pipe first , and headers too .

What is the Rest of your exhaust consist of ?

I knew my headers / y pioe was restrictive , but not untill talking with 03sierraslt did i even think to test it .

I tested mine in my collector.

My headers are 1 7/8 3"collector Kooks.
But my exhaust is choking it.

I just made up some 3" turn downs off the headers for the track. Removable midpipes with high flow cats for street cruising so that I am slightly closer to street legal. V-bands on the cats so that I can swap straight lengths when desired. Dual 3" through super 50s out the back.
