We can always replace those wires one day since we have that extra set to to be sure it's not that.

yeah, I'm thinking just replace the entire top portion which holds everything, but I'm not gonna touch it unless it messes up again.

damn white truck! we will get that thing fixed. well atleast we have narrowed down our possible problems, ITS def. not the pump. The relay works so that means the PCM is working. Well i guess if we change out the top connectors and that does not work we could just run a damn toggle switch with direct power and hide it somewhere.
This could also be a theft prevention device.
lol Until matt forgets to turn it on or off when hes drunk
I guess we could connect the power too an accessory circuit so that it comes on when the key is turned. too make it easy for him LOL!

if the wires are hot it IS electrical : either a bad relay, bad fuse, loose connection, or excessive power going through the wires, or normal power going through smaller wires than stock

or it could possibly be that there is power goin to the relay at all times(even with key off) which is bad

What's the possibility of a "not-so-firm" connection somewhere from the relay to the pump?

I'd almost bet that your connector at the fuel sender assembly is bad/loose if your noticing that its hot. GM did have a massive amount of those recalled on the suburbans/tahoes for the 00-02 yr models<IIRC> for getting hot and catching on fire, and I've seen them melt down on trucks with bad pumps as well. Theres a reason GM changed the design of that connector on all of the new fuel pumps for those models ........just a thought

Reviving an oooold thread here...

So what was the issue?

Mine has been doing this recently. It won't prime when I turn the key on, but it starts just fine, like maybe the pump is turning on right when I start cranking? It doesn't hesitate to start at all even when the pump doesn't prime.

And then sometimes it will prime when I turn the key on, and if I turn it off and immediately back on it will prime again, which I think is correct.

Has anybody ever figured out the problem on this? My pile started doing this **** a few days ago and it's beyond annoying.
