Default Cam for dod delete......

I have been thinking about deleting the dod in my 08 yukon, i dont really wanna put much more than bare minimum in this not looking to do anything crazy with it, want basically stock manners with maybe a slight gain in hp/tq, its still the kid mobile (though they thoroughly enjoy riding in my camaro as well as my truck) but i plan on this being the road trip family truck, so if i could sqeak a few more mpg out of it that would be good too.... I have the cam that came out of my lq9, which if it would work for what i want would be awesome, i also have access to an lm7 cam, but im thinking the lm7 would be a bit of a step backwards as far as power etc..... If at all possible i would prefer to use a stock gm cam that i dont need to replace valve springs with...... Any suggestion or thoughts would be helpful....

There are a couple of companies that do dedicated truck cams now that dont even require a change of valvespring and have reported good gains as well.

Yeah but im tryin to stay with stock cam, dont wanna spend $3-400 on a cam when i could potentially get a stock cam for free or less than $200..... I would like to put the cam in my sig in it but i dont like how it acts in my 99 couldnt imagineit in a 5.3 that i dont have any intention of even putting a cai on at this point....

VVT can be great for MPG when tubed right.

Is that something you'd want to dive into? Pretty sure your PCM can control it, but you would need the harness.

Otherwise Id suggest a stock LQ9 cam or a very mild aftermarket cam. I could help you spec that.

What all would be involved in adding vvt??? Im all about better mileage and more power, just dont wanna put anywhere bear what ive got in my silverado in this yukon.....biggest thing is deleting the dod at this point.....toying with idea of 6l80 in this pig too..... Is there a gen 4 cam that didnt have dod and vvt?? Where would i be able to find a 3bolt cam sprocket with the lugs for the can sensor.... (Cant remember what theyre actually called at moment)

its just known as the 4x cam gear. it would be whats used in the LS3.

Adding VVT would mean a different front timing cover and a harness from the PCM as well as some tuning.

Order a L9H timing cover and electrical connector then just build you a harness from the connector to the pcm it's only 2 or 3 wires to add. Need a 10 or newer vvt compatible pcm with a 5.3 flash I don't think VVT can be added to a 08 pcm.

I don't think there is a OE single bolt cam that's non VVT or DOD. The reason behind the single bolt was for the VVT and it's components.
