Building Up Stock LQ4. Need help!
Hi folks. Need some tech advice.
I have a bone stock LQ4 in a 2004 Yukon.
Adding Kooks LT headers, catted y, precision 5.3 heads (due to dished pistons over choosing factory lq4 style heads), Cloyes Hex-A-Just Timing Set
For the cam I believe I ordered this one but I need to double check my information:
Texas Speed 224/228 .581"/.588" Camshaft (They recommended this cam due to towing and not having a stall.)
With these mods do I need to worry about the stock rod bolts and rods? What about the pistons? I would rather not touch the stock bottom end but want to be sure. If I need to change the rods is that something I can do in my garage with average tools? I am mechanically inclined but I think balancing rotating parts might be out of my current abilities.
My future plans are:
Fast truck manifold.
LS3 style TB with Xlink.
4L80E swap with 3400 Yank converter
Voltant Intake.
It is unlikely but in the far future I might look into a pro-charger. I think it would get too expensive though (rebuild tranny + ????).
Recommendations on injector size?
Fuel pump?
Other mods?
Is there something I am overlooking??
Do I need to replace the lifters and if so which ones?
Is the LS6 valley cover and catch can worth it?
Thanks so much for your help. I have learned a lot from the LS1tech/Performance Truck community over the years but I know I don't know it all. Appreciate any help.
