So you're running a single muffler? I'm just wondering if true duals would sound a lot better, and not let the two banks "walk on top of each other".

First of all compression does NOT kill lope. It makes it louder and more crisp.

What is killing your lope is the huge muffler youre running in conjunction with the fact that it is a chambered muffler. You want lope through your exhaust get a corsa exhaust, it lets the cam talk through it better than any other exhaust.

When I had a 222/224 112 in my 5.3 with true duals xpipe cutouts and walker mufflers IMO the true duals with X cancel out the lope more than a ypipe. When I went to a ypipe setup with a corsa and cutout it loped better than the dual setup.

Keep your current setup and add a cutout.

5.3 stock longblock 222/224 112 cam lt headers no cats xpipe through cutouts idle at 700ish

Sorry for the horrible quality but this was back in 05 when it was pretty hard to find a decent(cheap) digital camera to film the truck, and I was more focused on going fast than spending money on photography equipmet
That video should give you a semi close idea to what youre missing out on by going through that big muffler.

11.2:1CR 418 cubes 237/242 112 cam with lt headers, ypipe and no cats through cutout. I realize its a bigger cam but its a lot more cubes, this video is just to showcase the difference in sound that higher compression gives you. Idle at 1000

420 cubes 9.4:1CR 220 cam lt headers ORY and a corsa sport idle at 600

See how big a difference a muffler makes? And thats a TINY cam for the cubes I was running.

And here I was thinking duals with an x-pipe Can't say I like the sound of that Corsa at all. It's not deep enough. Sounds too raspy. What about the following? Keep in mind I want no drone and not too loud on the interstate crusing at 2200 RPMs.
  1. Borla ProXS
  2. Cherry Bomb Turbo
  3. MagnaFlow Performance
  4. MagnaFlow XL3
  5. Dynomax Ultra Flo
  6. Dynomax Super Turbo
  7. Hooker Aerochamber

For what you want you need to keep what you have and get a cutout. There isnt a muffler out there besides corsa that will have no drone and still be able to hear the lope. The big magnaflows seem to be the only thing that really kill drone but they kill the sound of the cam too. You can still hear it but it will be damn close to what you already have.

A cutout sure would be easy. I was on youtube and like the sound of the Magnaflows.

That sounds awesome at idle. Got any vids other than idle? Any drone? How's the volume on the interstate? Would it get old on a several hundred mile trip?

heres a few revs and a brake stall to 23-2500

personally i liked it on the highway with windows up ac on and radio playing it was smooth. its hard to get get both worlds pending on the amount of mods you have and what all one might wanna accomplish as some point just like gas mileage we have to give up alot to gain so little ..

Either the Magnaflow 12468 or 12568 looks very interesting. All I'd have to do is cut my y-pipe and have pipes run from there to the front of the muffler. I can use my existing mandrel bent tails.
