Default Kooks greencats opinions?

Looking for opinions and experience. I’m looking to cut back on the exhaust fumes on my daily turbo Truck. Are the kooks greencats just an overpriced part. Better options? I would mount it after my exhaust cut out before my muffler. Is there a minimum distance down the line it needs to be mounted to heat up properly? Thanks everyone.

I went with Thunderbolt metallic cats. They're all over ebay. They have great reviews from multiple auto forums and metallic cats flow better than ceramic

There’s a YouTube video where a guy was testing them and they melted on the dyno, on the first run.

He didn’t get much support from Kooks on the issue.

Thats enough for me to stay away.

I have them on my Chevy SS. I have a MIL that I haven't pulled yet but I have a bad feeling about it.

I'm running the standard catted y pipe and it's been fine so far with 35k of DD on it at 14 psi. I don't think the green cats like forced induction.

Next question. What is the maximum distance away from the turbo I can install a cat?

Usually have to reach at least 600F for them to work. So maybe get under there with an infrared thermometer once it warms up.

I’m going to pull the trigger on the standard cat. I only run about 10-12 psi of boost. If it cuts back on the fumes. It will be a win.
