A bone stock 5.3L makes around 240HP to the wheels depending on the dyno to give you an idea.

XR265HR low lift Dyno.

Isky Triple12 Dyno.

It's too bad no one has a stockish comparison with the Triple 12 cam. Either way I don't really think you could go wrong. The biggest thing is not to over cam the truck.

Yes they don't have any good cams in their book. I have everything custom made, I sent you a PM. Long tubes will definitely help and the 4.8L converter is a little higher stall if it's factory. Many rebuilders don't care tho and will use whatever. The trail blazer converter is also a nice little boost if you can find one.

I have a friend that owns a transmission shop so getting a stock converter like one from a Trailblazer would be no problem but I'm thinking my 4.8 converter would be a good starting point with a cammed 5.3. I'm getting ready to start collecting parts very soon to get this going.

My truck was pretty much stock when I posted that dyno slip. Only thing done before the cam was efans, cai, 93 tune, catback. Everything else was stock. So the 300hp and 310ft/lb was achieved only by adding the cam. The little bit that was shaved off the heads to true them up won't make enough of a difference to even count that.

I like my BTR truck stage2 in my 08 Sierra cc 2wd w 3.73 gear. it has a airaid mit, TSP 1 3/4” long tubes stock pipes with Hooker 3” maxflow and a Weeks street tune. I’m eventually going to swap the 60 for a 80 and 2800 stall

Hard to say what "best" would be, not least because everyone's idea of what they want out of a cam differs from everybody else's, but that Comp choice seems entirely reasonable and in the right range.

Believe it when they say the valve springs MUST be changed. There are plenty you can get that will work fine, doesn't necessarily have to be the Comp ones. For example https://www.texas-speed.com/c-3263-v...ring-kits.aspx the PAC KS-14 kit is perfect for moderate cams like that one.

I really like the high lift truck series from Texas Speed. Ive tried quite a few in both my trucks and the stage 2 212/218 600/600 112lsa works great and does literally everything i wanted and wished i had in other cams. Plus it uses a very high quality and much quieter pac beehive. ive put 25k on one so far and love it. the other has about 10k.
