First, I'm puzzled why lope is a primary consideration rather than stating your performance goals. But, a 216/220 114 will have a slight lope in a 5.3. If you are truly wanting a real lumpy idle, you might not be happy with that particular cam.

Actually price and performance come first for me, then sound. This is my 3rd cam for the engine and I'm wanting something on the smaller side due to the turbo, but having several lumpy NA engines in the past (240/246 cam), the stock sounding cams just sound lame to me.

Thanks everyone for the replies!!

A turbo cam usually don't have much (if any) split in the duration. I would think a Texas Speed 220/220 on 111 or 112 LSA is probably about what you're looking for.

Cam package (cam, springs, and pushrods) are on sale right now at Texas Speed for only $610, That's a good price.

If that 216/220 114 cam you're looking at is the one of those custom spec cams that Texas Speed is selling at a reduced price, I think that's a single bolt cam. What year is your 5.3? Most of them are three bolt cams if I remember correctly.

This is the trick flow cam for $287

http://m.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-30602001

I have a PTC 3000 stall converter, turbo 350 transmission, and 3.08 gears shifting at 5800 rpm. Crossed the stripe at 5800 rpm, 60' was 2.0. Trying to go 10s without launching too much harder.

I was running the stock 4.8 cam and ran an 11.67 @ 123 on 13 psi. I swapped in an ls9 cam and lost power across the board. Now I'm wanting to try a cam with a little overlap but not wanting to push it too far in the rpm band.

That's a sweet price on a cam. Hope you don't plan on using stock valve springs though.

Ya, stock truck springs are not good for anything other then the stock truck cam. You will need springs, no question about it.

I've already got PAC 1218 springs, thanks for the heads up though! I just ordered the cam so I will post back with a update after I install it!
