Default any1 swaped a 6.0l in a 88-98???

Ive had my 98 c1500 for 14 years now and I reaqly want to drop in a v8. (v6 is all i could afford when i was 20) I am debating on a 5.7 with heads and cam or a 6.0. I know the A/C compresor wont fit but i want A/C for sure. do I notch my frame or sell an arm and leg for a serpintine system that would relocate the compressor
Has any1 done this? im sure its been done a million times but has any1 on this site done this conversion? this is also my daily driver, still, so this cant be a year long project. thanx in advance

www.LS1truck.com. Check out the LSX Truck Conversions swap section as it's probably 85% 88-98 trucks. It's where I go if I get stumped on my 94. There is a sticky at the top that goes through the swap step by step for a Gen 1 Vortec truck like yours.

I did the 6.0 swap from the v6 in my 95. Totally worth the effort. Ls1truck has a lot of info. Let me know if you need help.

I have a 5.3 in a 1992 pickup(same dimensions as a 6.0). I have a dirty dingo bracket for my a/c, stock location high on passenger side. I know the 1998 has the compressor opposite side of mine but there is a bracket for yours that keeps it in your stock location. There is also only 10 wires you need to switch around to use the 6.0 gen 3 411 pcm on your swap. It will go right in place of your PCM.

I am building my 6.0 to put in next spring.

it all depends on how crazy you want to get. what exhaust you want. what transmission you want to run.

is your truck 2wheel or 4 wheel drive?

Get the Lextech brackets and mount your factory a/c compressor in the stock location.
