Run some top end cleaner through it. A stock tune should not command that much timing at WO even with 6 deg being added.
I have a really old HP tuners that I have always used on my truck so never really updated it or anything. Im running 91 oct cheveon fuel best we have out here.

I just checked a stock tune on HPT and the High Octane table commands at most 24-25 degrees @ .56g/cyl. The Low Octane table commands 20 degrees.

Sounds like a crappy tune to me.
Yea that's exactaly what it has in the high oct and low oct tables but it's adding somewhere else.

Good point and that's kinda what I was thinking. I need to compair it to a known stock tune to see if that is what it's doing. Onlything I saw that is fishy about tune is it has 3.42 gears and has 29.7" tire selected in the speedo part. Shouldn't a tahoe have a 31" tire stock? Also speedo is a tad slow and that prob explains why. Tires on it are 285/55/20's.

Could the cai be jacking with mafs and making it do weird ****? It has a Spectire or whatever it's called kinda cheepish looking cai on it. Gunna clean mafs tonight and replace knock sensors and we'll see what happens. Don't want to do too much because I have a lq4 with 243's and my 210/216, .532/112 lsa cam waiting to go in. Just worries me with the pinging. Maybe I should keep 317 heads on the lq4??

Are you sure it's not a mechanical issue? Have you pulled the valve covers to see if there is some problem on the top end causing a tapping? Pinging right off idle seems odd.

I tuned a 2500hd last week that showed massive KR right off idle, turns out motor mounts were loose.

Reflash it to full stock, put a stock air box on it if you have one and check the plugs. Run top end cleaner through it and once all this is done you will have a baseline you can start from and go from there.
Check the MAF make sure it's clean and has the screen installed. If it's missing the screen find another MAF.

Yea I need to check all that. Dnt really want to deal with dealer tho they are rapists around here. I need a stock 5.3 HP tuners tune to compare every table etc to.

Excessive Carbon build up from Shitty gas usually causes the pinging in these engines. Run some fuel injection cleaner through it.

PM Me the Vin number. Let me see if I can get you the factory GM calibration for it.

By any chance is this an L59, Flex fuel Tahoe???
