5.3L LC9 vs 6.2L L94 dyno results
I can't leave anything alone so I decided to swap the 5.3L out of my 2010 Tahoe and replace it with a 6.2L L94 engine that I got from a local auto recycler. Now this comparison isn't apples to apples because the 5.3L was completely stock and when I swapped in the 6.2L I also did a cold air intake and 1 7/8" longtubes w/o cats. I kept the stock muffler because I wanted it to still be somewhat quiet so I'm sure that's hurting flow and there is room for improvement there but oh well. These dynos were done in very different weather conditions so keep in mind that while these are SAE corrected numbers it's not perfect. The 5.3L was dyno'd when it was 54 degrees outside with a 1.00 correction factor (basically none) and the 6.2L was dyno'd in 100 degree weather with a 1.07 correction factor. If these were dyno'd in the same conditions the 6.2L would have probably made a bit more power even with the SAE correction factor being applied. These pulls were also done in 3rd gear instead of 4th so keep in mind these numbers are going to be ~20-30 rwhp/rwtq low.
The interesting thing here is that in the midrange there are spots where it had an 85 ft/lb gain and at 6000 rpms it is up 93 rwhp! This is on 91 octane and is definitely octane limited. Anyways, just thought it was an interesting comparison. I only dropped about 1.5 mpg doing this swap in my normal daily driving stop and go commute too!

I'd say thats a pretty legit comparison with minimal changes other than the engine and using correction factors for air quality. Nice gains. Bet it is much more fun to drive now. Did you keep the stock 6 speed auto that cam in the tahoe?
I've got a 2010 Texas Edition Tahoe with 65,000 miles on it that it absolutely pristine (cause my wife drives it). Probably never get rid of it. It has been a very nice SUV with the exception of the dash cracking 2 times now.
