5.3l cam choices.
Ok, so after a lot of forum browsing, my own experience with the comp cams 259hr and where I plan to take my truck Id appreciate a little advice on my new engine build. The 4.8l in my truck has 180k on it and runs like a champ with a comp cams xr259hr. That being said I plan to drop a new 5.3l and 4l65e with a stall to match the cam around December. Im currently debating between three cams. the TSP 220r, the 212/218 everyone speaks so highly of and a custom grind 212/218 with a 110 lsa. Im not looking for a high rpm screamer. I want her to really get into the power and get into it sooner, Id rather be able to beat a corvette light to light rather than be able to reach 140 mph. Ya'll catch my drift? I love the 259hr i have but i want a bigger cam thats got a nice choppy idle and some get up and go. And yes I know thats asking a lot of just a cam but a kid can dream right? Shes a daily driver and ill put a small bottle on for the occasional track trip. Shes also got a 2/4 drop on 20s and will be getting a speed engineering set of longtubes and their dual set when they start selling them as well as upgrading to 3.73s in the future but for now itll keep the 3.42s Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You may want to check out our lineup as well...we do a lot of cams here for the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0's. From what you described, our Rob Style Jr or Rob Style Cam come to mind. With a stall both have great driveability, some lopey action, and pull very hard throughout the powerband. Just a thought! We also do a lot of custom cams if what we have doesn't suit your needs.

Im gonna throw the good ole JFR triple 12 Isky cam in the mix as well! I put down 300hp 310tq through the stock trans/converter and through stock exhaust. The only stuff I had done at the time of dyno was CAI, 93 tune by the shop that did my swap(which was a crap tune), and efans.
It ran pretty good with stock trans/tc and exhaust. I lost just a slight bit off the bottom when I swapped to LTs/ORY and 3" catback. But it more than makes up for it after 2500rpm, and pulls hard all the way to 6400. A simple converter swap to something like Circle D's HP series would really wake it up.

Ill have to take a look at the JFR I like the rob style cams sound but only been able to find it in trailblazers. Heres another question to add on though any of those cams good for a 6.0 swap? The 6.0 is on the table just not quite sure whether i want to just go ahead and do it now or do a 5.3 then do a 6.0 later. Im starting to lean towards 6.0 now. Just because why not? That and the 5.3 I had i just sold to a friend of mine

Tick has a nice line up of cams designed around the 4.8/5.3 trucks I ran a tsp224 112lsa in mine with a 3000 stall worked perfect would run 8.5/8.6 in the 1/8th on 20's at 82mph and 8.2-8.3 on a 26inch et street
