That's useless info in that link as it's not all correct.

There is no difference in crank length on the 5.3L. Only the early 4.8L and 6.0L had the longer rear snout.

Says the computer is different and fuel ratio? So you would by it it's 400 dollars cheaper?

How does the 2001 produce 15 more horsepower over the 99?

In this case, the computer only maters to the vehicle not the engine.

Yes, I would buy the 400 dollar cheaper engine if i needed one.

Yeah I need on it has 300,000 on it now? Anymore opinions probably be purchasing it tomorrow.

300,000.... Perfect ring gap for nitrous or a turbo. Pop a cam in that thing and a gasket and seal kit, and run the **** out of it... then turbo It for $3000 and make 700 horse. Don't let the miles scare you.
