Default 5.3 Cam Swap

Hey guys!

I'll start by warning you that I am a total idiot when it comes to cam talk, but I do understand how it works, and general talk... But, on-to the question...

I'm looking for ATLEAST another 50-70HP via Cam swap. I have a 5.3 litre LM7 with absolutely no engine modifications. I do know that with certain cams, you'll need to change out the stall converter; which is something I'd rather NOT do. I'm looking for a bit of a lope in the idle, and want a bit more of a "healthy" sound from it as well.

Any info you all have would be great! Thanks!

i would suggest LT's as well.

stall is not needed it just helps, and get a custom tune

220 I'm assuming is the lift? What does the TSP stand for? And, no clue what LT's are... lol. Sorry!

TSP stands for Texas Speed n Performance. Its the. 220 duration with 581 lift and 112 or 114 lobe seperation angle. The lower the lsa the chopier the idle. LTs are Long Tubes headers. I got a TSP 220 in my 4.8 n love it.

50 is resonable but 70 is too much for a cam only 5.3
you need headers , and change the flowdisaster 44 you have , this wont help making HP

when you make all these things in a single time (headers, muffler, cam ) you might get 350whp and you need a better tune

I would suggest a 212-218.
you would defanitly want ATLEAST a 3200 stall with a TSP220
Long tubes are a must even without a cam

I would say get what im gonna get for my truck, i would get a GM ASA Cam, look it up, you will have to swap out the torque converter, but it also adds about 140 HP and about 108WHP so if ur looking for speed and power go for that one, you may have to get headers, and new lifters also for it.
