2014+ 5.3 reliability
Hi all,
My best buddy is looking into a 2014 GMC Sierra with the 5.3. I know the old ones like my LM7 are solid, but I don't know much about the new ones. Its only been about 3 years since these have come out, so im sure not a lot of high mileage ones exist. I have heard of issues with Cylinder deactivation in the 07-13 trucks.
Do the new ones have any notable issues or quirks? What does the maintenence schedule look like?
Any input is appreciated! if you know of any quality threads like this, just send the link my way. Thanks!

Launching!
I have not heard about any major issues. My work uses 2014 Single Cab Long bed 5.3 and has 140k miles on it and has had no major issues. One of the injectors took a crap around 120k and thats about it. They seem to be a solid motor.

Buy the older trucks.... the engine may fair okay but the truck around it is a complete pile of scrap iron. Mind you if your driving habits like most on here include nothing but clean pavement they will do okay.

TECH Junkie
Just turned over to 25k. No issues other than fuel pump and module and that damn vibration at 72 mph. Other than that I'm in love. Pre 14 with 6spd is easier to mod though, so many more options with an LS but the LT runs way stronger stock so it just depends on your goals. If I was going to heavily mod I would do LS for sure, if minor like myself LT for sure. I should be very high 7's now with blower and tune only. We'll see when the track opens again.
