2006 4.8 to LQ4

2006 4.8 to LQ4
I've done a ton of research and I know that it's possible and in most cases a direct bolt up swap but I haven't read anything about doing it in a 2006 but a lot of older years 99,01.
Is it the same procedure for a 2006?
I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8 2WD auto trans.
Just want to make sure everything will be G2G so that I can look for an engine. I will most likely replace my trans too, maybe find a place to beef my original trans up if there are any good places near me.
Hope to hear back from some guys who know what they're doing.
Thanks

The long block will swap over just fine.
Bolt your intake, throttle body, fuel rail, injectors etc etc and all that minor stuff and you have a 6.0 ready to go.
Then you need to tune it. All that can be done with the 4.8 computer, it's easy enough to copy over needed data and then tweak the tune from there.

Look for a 05-06 lq4 and try to get the 4l80 with it. Change knock and the rear oil sensor and new gaskets especially rear main while the 6.0 is on stand. I went with solid motor mounts too while doing swap. Pretty straight forward. I went from 03 4.8 to 05 6.0 and everything went smoothly, doing the 4l80 was a little more time consuming but with all the info on pt was not hard at all.

A few more questions before I go looking for an engine and trans.. I'm looking to turn my truck into a pre-runner. If you could go LS would you go LS or would you stick with LQ4? Would an LS swap still be as simple and if so what LS engine would you recommend and what year? Also trans?
Or could I rebuild a LQ4 for more horses before dropping it in?? Just weighing my options.
Thanks again

The lq4 is part of the ls family, most of the ls designation(ls1,ls6, ls2, ls3, etc) are aluminum block versions, the lq4/9 are cast block 6.0 gen iii and most of the lm series are the 4.8/5.3 blocks.... Either will bolt in, just easiest to find a gen 3 going into a gen 3 truck!!
