2004 Yukon overheating at idle
Only gets hot while idling. Once driving temp goes down. But gets so hot you can smell it and hood latch will burn you. Changed thermostat. Checked cleanliness of radiator, checked radiator pressure. Fan clutch manually tested and does have resistance. No leaks anywhere that I can see. Side note, in knoxville tn so it's been very hot. Not sure if that contributes. Not sure what to do next. Water pump? Check head gaskets? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Homestly, not replacing the fan clutch with the waterpump voids the warranty on most aftermarket waterpumps, i think gm even has the same deal on the oe replacement... Id probably do both for piece of mind... I know its the middle of the summer but hows the heat working in the truck?

Ok guys so here's what has been done:
Fan clutch
Water pump
Radiator flush
Thermostat
Still overheating but takes much longer. Before would heat up after about 10 minutes. Now let run for 45 minutes before started to get hot. I can smell an oil burning smell when it gets hot. Head gasket? It was pressure checked and checked out ok. My husband and all my guys I work with are stumped.

When it runs with the cap off the reservoir, are there bubbles coming out of it, or is it liek a coolant volcano(best way to describe what i have seen clogged radiators do on these trucks)! does it build pressure anywhere while its running? And lastly hows the heat in the truck?
