Default 150k lq9 on a budget

Decided to do headgaskets on the donor motor now I'm looking at maybe doing lifters while I'm in there- question i have is do I really need to? I'd hate to put this thing back together and have one or a few be bad. Are new oem ones the ls7 ? Requires different pushrods. Any advise will help me decide

With that mileage you should do lifters while you have the heads off. And get new trays as well. Ls7 lifters are the stock upgrade replacement everyone is running but you can also find some good lifters aftermarket as well (Brian Tooley, etc.) You will need to get a push rod length checker to know for sure what the push rod length should be but I believe it is something like 7.4" with the shorter Ls7 lifters and a stock base circle cam. Search in the "Internal Engine Modification" section of the forum to learn more.
