are you stock dished pistons?
ether way get a hold of some 243/799 heads and have them milled .020" and use some comet .041" gaskets. would give you around a 9.9:1 compression ratio and a good quench to help with detonation. these heads also flow better then the 862/706 heads on there now.
if you want to spend more have them ported by some one that has good reputation.
243/799 heads are around $450-600 and porting are another $700+.

imo they are worth it. had to get my 706 heads replaces as they cracked on me and i had 799 put on after getting them milled .030". now i have better flow and a 9.9:1 compression. feels good all over the power range yet better above 3000rpm.
