Here is the gap between the converter pads and the flex plate. I used a 3/16 allen wrench as a feeler.

The instructions state for a 1/8 (2/16) to 3/16 of gap. The allen wrench would not fit in the 3/16 drill bit hole so it is a tad bigger than a true 3/16. Lets call the allen 4/16. I added a washer that was 1/16 thick between the pad and flex plate. This tightened up my gap to 2/16-3/16 which is right in spec.

I sent those pics and quick desc to Robert Transbuilderguy as a FYI. He called me right away and double checked the math with me. He stated it would probably be fine without the washers but since I measured everything and the washers were truly 1/16 and not 1/8 - itd be good.

Very nice attention to detail. The way it should be done.

I still feel iffy about you running the 60 though. The shafts are just so small.

1st. Buy a $4,000 transmission and a new converter then just slap it together... no way jose. Thanks man. Remember I have under 500 wheel. I plan on keeping it for a year or so then part out and trade in a stock truck then start the madness again.

2nd. thats what she said.

I shoulda weighed this level 5 to a stock. The shipping was 170 for the stocker and 180 for this one but I wonder what it really weighs.

Did you have any problem jacking up the truck high enough to get the trans under? I'm scratching my head on this one.

Yes. When i removed it. I bench pressed it off the dowels and down onto my chest. Then my brother helped me slide it off my chest onto the ground to slide out from under my truck.

The new one is a few inches taller because of the deep alum pan and felt heavier. I jacked the truck up higher than previously with hopes of leaving it on the jack and it still wouldnt fit under the frame. so the hard part was moving it under the truck across the floor without screwing up the new pan. It was a bear but I did it. Once under the truck I used ratchet straps to pick up the front and rear enough to get the trans jack under it to install onto the engine.

Brilliant idea with the straps. I'll do the same with my trans jack.
