So, just came back from vacation and my truck started acting goofy. Feels like it's binding up in first off a stop, then it'll pop (both felt and heard), and you start moving regularly. And you hear a constant grinding /holding noise. Got it to the shop, placed it in park and it started rolling back. Pulled the diff. Cover to inspect the rear end, it's good. No missing teeth, no looseness. So, next i can think of is the transmission. placed it on stands and put it in gear, makes a hell of a grinding howling noise in reverse. Buddy of mine thinks it's a planetary gear. I'm not to familiar with the works to really guess.

Either way, I'm pretty sure my trans took a dive.

Anyone recommend a good place for a rebuild kit and components? Doesn't have to be performance. Truck is my daily and all that's on it is exhaust.

Sounds like possibly a broken rear planet ring gear. Where are you located?
