Posi for front axle?
I dont know much about the front drive axle on my z71, and IM planning on a posi for the rear, wanting one for the front too.
will the G80 fit the front, or what do I need?

To those of you who have looked into locking the front differential, is there anything like the S-truck posi-lock cable operated system? In the S10 4x4, for example, we have the option to replace the vacuum actuated locking system with a cable inside the cab to lock both axle shafts in place. Does the 1/2 ton not have this function? We also have the Lock-rite locker too, so most go that route anyways.

I don't think the cable does what you think it does. the cable replaces the vacuum actuator which locks in the front axle but the axles together. the 8.25 doesn't have a locker avaliable for it. detroit e locker was working on something a couple year's ago but it got axed.

Theres nothing for the 1/2 tons, the diff/cv's wont hold together with a locker.
They make the posi-lock for fullsize trucks too but it will still be an open diff, the posi lock just engages the 4wd like stock but instead of electronically its with a cable.

Yeah, the posi-lok cable only changes how the front axle engages, I had one on my 94 1/2 ton sub and it worked well. There are no posi's or lockers available for the 8.25 ifs diff. Your best bet is to get a locker out back and not worry about the front. The front diffs, and cv axles are notorious for blowing up when you put lockers in them. There just not strong enough to get used that way.
