Default np246

I have a 1999 Silverado 2500 6.0 4l80e with a NP246 T case. My clutches are bad and I need to replace them. Is that more of a professional thing or could I do it. I have torn down multiple NP231's from Jeeps to do a slip yoke eliminator but have never messed with the clutches in one like mine. Has anyone ever done this before? Thank you in advance

I say give it a try. I've taken 246's apart for resealing and pump rub fixes and they're pretty simple.

Be sure to pull the speed sensors before splitting the case halves. Also, the rear bearing snap ring can be a pain in the ***. Be sure to get a pair of snap ring pliers to make it easier.

They're easy to work on. The np246 was the first transfer case I ever worked on.
