Doesnt that happen with bad axle wrap? Maybe some caltracs or something? Ive also used the u bolt type fastner vs the strap type fasteners your using now. The straps on my 14boltsf would'nt keep the u joint tight.

Yeah, so much for my new straps and bolts.

Using the stock Av 5 link rear suspension, bolted to a customized 9.5" housing.

Hopefully the trans is not hurt. The yoke did not want to slide all the way off the output shaft.

Traction bars to prevent axle wrap, and bolt-through ujoint straps. Looks like a strap/bolt failure and not a shaft problem.

Is there a stronger u-bolt style pinion yoke for the 9.5" 14 bolt? DSS thinks the same 30 spline 1350 yoke as fits the GM 8.5" (Mark Williams # 39003) will work, but Mark Williams isn't so sure. I don't know how the pinion shaft/bearing sizes compare.

I see you are still using the stock stamped steel control arms and locator. There is a chance you are still getting some axle movement as those components are pretty flimzy compared to the power you are making. I changed the lca and panhard on my respectively low powered Tahoe and noticed a difference, especially when towing. Might be something worth looking into.

I was advised long ago by Inland Empire Driveline that the power I was putting down with the Tahoe back in the day was better served by a steel shaft. We went with a fixed yoke on the Gear Vendors output shaft and a splined steel shaft with solid 1350 joints in between. That configuration eliminates slipyoke binding on the tailshaft and has been bullet-proof through all motor configurations. I went with the same setup on the Suburban.

Honestly, it should be breaking axle shafts or ring gears before breaking the driveline.
