I have done a decent amount of searching and most suggest a 99+ or 03+ unit but I have found a 94 4wd 80e that needs rebuilt for $180. I was planning on a complete rebuild no matter what year I got so it can go in my truck with as little worry as possible.

The truck for now has mild bolt ons and MAYBE at some point a turbo but that's not very likely. So will a completely rebuilt 94 80e work for my needs as a daily driver? If so, do I need to worry about my transfer case not bolting up directly? If I have to change a bunch of stuff on top of the rebuild I may as well keep looking for a newer unit but this price has me wanting to pick it up..

Get it. Hell yes you can fit it, you already said your building it. That would even be better and stronger.
