Blew the stock 373 g80 to bits in my 2000 sierra.
need to get it up and running this week.
wreckers has a RP0 code AXN rear end with 373s
its noted as the 14 bolt with 9.5'' gear. 6 lug hubs and rear discs.

anybody swapped one of these suckers in ?

i could rebuild the stock 10 bolt, but this is ready to go, fresh pull with low mileage and its going to be stronger that the stock 10 bolt ever was.

just wanted to know if there was any problems out of the ordinary swapping this bitch in ? its -19 this week and unfortunately i have to get it done outside so the more i know now the better.

Yes it has been done before. However I am not sure what has to be done, but I do not think it is a straight swap. Some mods have to be made.. Do a search for it.. I would put a built unit in there, a girdle, call it a day.. But thats me

ok, bit more info.

this is out of a 1500 ext cab - same as my truck
they call this in the RPO a "HYBRID" axle due to the fact it normally comes in the 2500 series trucks.

my truck is a 2000
the AXN axle im looking at is out of an 2006 silverado


Spec's are:
2006 Chevy Silverado 1500
3.73 ratio (opt GT4), w/hybrid axle (opt AXN) 14 bolt Disc Brakes.

So the truck isn't a Vmax or 06 SS silverado.. I still think there might be some mods to make it work, but honestly not 100% I didnt pay attention to the lil details on some of the write ups. PM Atomic on here. He did the swap, I think he could help you more so then myself

Mangled, I can't verify the exact truck it came out of as its already been pulled by the parts yard and separated. I do know it was an available option on the 1500s starting around 05. I've used the search and the thread Atomic posted is using the older style axle and converted it. I'm almost certain none of the mounting points changed on these trucks from 99 - 06 therefore I'm thinking it will fit. Guess I was just looking for a definitive answer.

Guess ill pull out the tape and to measure it up

If you have rear disc brakes it will be very easy, just use the mounting plate off your 10b on the new axle. If you have rear drums on your 10b, I believe you need a new proportioning block for it to work correctly with the 14b disc brakes. Not sure if you can transfer 10b drums onto a 14b axle...the mounting plate would certainly have to be moved inward. I cant remember what year they went back to rear discs, but they went back to drums in 05.

You will also need a new ujoint to work with your dshaft depending on which one you have. I have more specific info in my swap thread, but the pinion on all of the 14bolts are 1350 I believe. Spring perches should be the same if its 4wd to 4wd, or 2wd to 2wd, same with shock mounts. I would measure it first though, just to make sure.

Hey, Yes my 10bolt has rear discs, the new axle is from a 2006 silverado ext cab.

its listed as 14 bolt, 6 lug hubs, with disc brakes. only thing is there is no way of knowing if it was a 4x4 or 2x.

would i not be able to use it if its a 2x rear ?
