Auburn Ected vs. Eaton E-Locker
I started a thread about the detroit locker and I got a lot of good info which is leading me to go a different direction..........
I have found both an Auburn Ected and a Eaton E-Locker for $650 and I am wondering if these are any good.
I understand that the Auburn can be engaged and disengaged on the fly but I couldn't see weather you sould do the same with the Eaton.
Anyone here running either of these? How much power can they handle? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

you'll mostly see these in fairly hard core off road vehicles. I'd just go with a quality locking diff like a tru-trac, or Eaton LSD... both of these have been subjected to some serious abuse and power in this type of build (I've got a tru-trac in mine) My detriot has never once not locked up or acted right.

I agree with silver-mod-o. The e-lockers are made for off-road use and work particularly well in front ends where a full-time locker is not fun. Not really much benefit for a street truck. The real benefit of those for the off-road guys is being able to have an LSD on the street and full locker while playing on the rocks.

According to the Auburn website, the ECTED is limited slip when it's not locked...
The E-locker is just a straight locker...
The comparable Eaton product would be the EGerodisc...

Auburn Ected is a limited slip when unlocked. And still a limited slip when locked.
When it's locked,it only applies more pressure to the clutches. One the clutches wears out just a bit.It does not work anymore.
If you want good traction on the street, and if you have a GM 10 bolt 8.5/8.6 ring gear.
Eaton Truetrac or the HD posi unit,or the Yukon Duragrip would be my suggestion for ya.
