Default Any difference in 4l60e- car/truck?

I am looking to replace my now FUBAR 4l60e with a GMPP 4l60e. The part number is- 12497318.

The local GM parts guy says this is a Corvette transmission. Is this case any different than a truck case? Longer or shorter maybe?

The tailhousing might be different, I am not for sure.

That one should work, the spline count needs to be correct (I think it's 33), but the 24221888 (4L65E) is supposedly a Corvette transmission as well, and worked fine in my truck.

The 24221888, BTW, is only about $350 more, and is significantly upgraded. Have you seen this article?

Tail housing AND the shift rod that sticks out the side of the tranny. It is short on the f-body trans and longer on the truck. I had to swap the rods before I could put the module on the side of the tranny.

So for the most part, this is a easy swap then?

Hey guys...I can get a great deal on a near new Dr. Evil 4L60E from an 04 GTO. Want to install it in my 01 Yukon (has a 02 LS1 5.7 in it). From what I read here, I can swap the tailhousing and shift rod from my oem 4L60E to the DrEvil 4L60 and bolt it up?

Yes this all will work however the is a sleeve on the output shaft for your vented yoke that will need to be swaped as well.

Thanks Vince...I appreciate and value your input on this. I guess that it would be best to purchase a new sleeve rather than using the 85k mile unit in the existing tranny?

If you can get it off with out hurting it you'll be alright. Use a flat blade screw driver and hammer. Gently tap it on differnt sides untill it comes off and then install it on to the other shaft. Pretty simple. There is a seal in this sleeve if it is hard or leaks it should be replaced. I have plenty of them laying around if anyone needs one.
