I know there was talk of it but did they actually decide to release a 17x4.5?

Yes...per Derek, they did release the 4.5". (see comment #81)

I took my name off the preorder list just because I thought I had a serious problem with my motor (turned out to be a nonissue). Anyways, I'm probably going to end up buying these once they're available.

I just don't know if going to a 15" rear wheels and the troubles that goes along with that is worth it versus the bolt on 17". I'm pretty sure a member on here with the 9 sec ex-cab said he went upper 9s on 18" drag radials. Tire technology has come such a ways now that I'm not sure 15s are necessary. Aesthetically though, 15s out back and 17s in front is what I was set on.

Ordered my 28" tall M&H ROD-19's (275/50R17) for the rear yesterday.
Still looking at various 215/65R17 and 235/60R17 for out front.

edit: rears are here!
