didn't find any negative reviews for Jakes? you didnt look very hard... you will find negative reviews for all of them if you dig deep enough. havent seen any real complaints about his product, just his customer service.

other companies to consider - ace, centuri, rossler, north texas converter,

I did read some bad reviews and spoke with em this week, I was totally turned off by the whole deal..I won't get into it but I wasn't happy about being" different " I should say about spending 5k plus.

I will look at those companies you suggested tho, I wish I new should I do a triple disk or not....

here is my thoughts on converters...if you plan to lock the converter at WOT, get a 3 disk if you dont plan to lock at WOT you're better off without. Remember there is more rotational weight with the 3 disk converters.

Its my daily driver, i don't race it but i like to mess with people in it. I also tow my 8k trailer with it. So honestly i guess i really don't need a fancy converter. I want it to be tough but also be reliable and not be any worse on fuel than it is now. The trucks huge, it only gets 10 mpg around town and the best on the highway rolling along at 70 was 14 mpg. This is no race car by any means compared to some of these trucks on here.

Going the stock style converter route is alot cheaper also by almost 1k, i don't wanna be cheap but if i don't need it i don't need it. The whole idea to all this is to have a good trans to go with the rest of my combo, that will last too.

What he said lol.... Stock your tune on an HD locks the converter at WOT which I always thought was pretty dumb and was the first thing I disabled.... For what I am doing I see no benefit to it... which isn't racing. Good to see you don't think a 3/4 ton 4x4 that's lifted is a race truck hahahaha.

I will look into that also, my truck needs more tuning anyway so that will be taken care of. I'm going to see about atomic and hp tuners to help me out with a package, he seems pretty good to deal with.

My 1st call and talk with chuck at flt he said about a fancy converter no but a good one yes, he suggested on from precision of new hampton which i guess is close to him. He also said the right converter stall of 2400hd and a stage 3 trans is what he mostly sells to the gas hd truck guys. That was a real good deal, right at 2500 shipped.

what exactly is the setup outside of the trans. we know it's a heavy truck...but what size cam, is it blown/nitrous or N/A? how often are you WOT? when you say its just a DD, i think to myself that you can throw a shift kit at your current trans and be fine. the 80e is stout in stock form.

went to your original post...1900=tvs1900? 140k isnt bad on an 80e if it has lived an easy DD life. if it tows heavy daily it may be different. the 80e in my 2500HD is the last thing on my mind at 204,000 miles. i worry about window motors, alternator, water pump and A/C

Here is a little info....Its a 6.0 tvs1900, stainless works headers, 220/232 587/578, btr 660 springs, ls7 lifters, overdrive balancer, alky control, 8 rib pulleys, 13 psi. It has 513 gears, 14 bolt and a dana 60 up front. Four linked on coilovers, 37 inch tires .My current trans has a transgo in it and a deep pan but id like to use it long distances in the summer and wanna put a fresh trans in it since it is at 140k.

On that note its been taken care of its whole life, the trans has always had the fluid and filter done. Fluid stays nice and clean. I just did the water pump, ac compressor and both window motors last summer..lol.
