you need 2 terminals and you are moving 2 wires on the Trans harness along with adding a connector to the trans harness to the PCM

you can purchase it from several places, but the point of this sticky is showing you can do it yourself and save $150+.

Default 4L80e Shifts too hard

A little tid bit for you:
If your 1-2 up shift seems way too hard, double check the wiring of the aditional VSS (closest to the bellhousing). My pins weren’t seated in the harness all the way and when I connected the PCM they didn’t make contact. This caused a fault (DTC P0717) that lead to full line pressure. Once I seated those two pins the trans shifted smooth as stock, and I have a shift kit installed.

Just to clarify, the spliced in pigtail to add the new VSS connector runs to the front plug on the 4L80? The existing 4L60 VSS connector would then connect to the rearward plug?

I'm dropping the LQ4/4L80 into a 1997 Extended cab short bed, 2wd. This truck was originally equipped with 5.7 Vortec and 4L60, and has the 2 piece driveshaft, stock. The 4L80 I bought came from a '99 with a 454 and still has the correct yoke attached. What, if any driveshaft mods will I need to make? I'm using the transdapt style motor plates that set the engine back about 3". I'm "thinking" that I can slide my original trans crossmember back and drill new holes, but not sure yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
