I can say I use the crap out of my '15. I lived on 25 acres and never once had a problem with traction and the issue you mentioned while I was hammered down pulling a 10k trailer around in some sloppy conditions.

Knock on wood the only problem Ive had was when they replaced my tq convertor. After that it has been great... not to mention the endless burnouts to get the tires to stick when racing.
Yup, I live and work on my commercial pecan farm. Over 800 acres of farm land, I give my 3/4 tons a good workout daily and have NEVER had a problem with the G80. Sounds like this gentleman has a chip on his shoulder for some reason about the G80 and GM in general. I passed the 2008 (165,000 miles), and 2011(120,000 miles) down to my farm employees and they have only seen the inside of the dealership or any mechanic shop once each. 2008 broke a front axle and the 2011 brake switch for the cruise control. All the 3/4 tons pull loads daily in dirt, mud and sand (located in the desert). The loads vary from bumper pull trailers to gooseneck dump trailers weighing in over 25,000lbs. So to say the trucks are pavement queens is a joke. They see more off-road than they do pavement. But in the end, all of our opinions are based on personal experiences, and it seems his have not been good. So understand his position...lol. Mine is just vastly different from his.

No chip..... just find them useless. I don't need a fragile design that shock loads itself to engage and disengages at 25 mph or less wheel speed. Those are just facts of how they operate since inception back in 1973... and I put something better in that works the way I want it too. The rest of the issues are focused on the latest bodystyle fail especially handling about 75% highway and 25% of what really are just gravel roads ...... and in my actual 2015's case.. well it was a pavement bucket. You just have to skip forums to see the thousand pages of threads on vibrations... paint issues.... 8 speed fails.... etc. It is what it is.

But ignoring all that..... my idea with my 15 having that stupid 9.76" ring gear.... swap it with a regular 5.3 trucks 9.5" and do whatever I wanted to it instead of being restrained with the 9.76" that offers nothing. My 15 would have a blower and whatnot too..... if it didn't have to be such a lemon.

Okay, back to the original question.. I put Rare Parts tie rods and a pitman arm brace in mine for 4x4 launches... Not sure if the stock stuff would break but it makes me feel much better knowing that I don't have to worry about it now..
With the lower gears you are increasing torque to your tires so I would say yes, you do have a greater chance of breaking something with the lower gears. Plus the tvs adds a butt pile of torque too.

Very good point! Would you have a link to the parts you mentioned?

I don't have a link but the pitman arm brace I got from "dirty hooker diesel" and the rare parts tire rods were from "alligator performance". The other thing I put on is a set of Smith Racecraft Assassin Bars to help with axle wrap.

Lol..... no..... you can just buy the entire truck and take the 9.76" rear, 6.2 and whatever else you want with it! It should have left today..... but the buyer backed out before he ever even came here..... as usual. Worst resale half ton truck ever made..... beyond maybe a Nissan lol.

Nope! No negotiations on parts lol. I have had 2 people send me messages this afternoon on the truck and both want to see it...... honestly the most interest I have had yet in the 3 months I have had it for sale lol. If one shows up it will be the second person to view the truck in 3 months lol... great turnout over here haha.
