Default quote for 4.10 eaton lsd

i recently went to a local shop that does rear ends, suspension, things of that sort, and asked for an out the door quote for 4.10 gears, eaton lsd, and labor, out the door price, and they told me it would be 1250. Does that sound high to anyone else for parts and labor???

i just think it sounds like a buttload of money, but i would like the opinions of people who have priced and purchased those items before, any input would be appreciated, thanks

Well,
POSI $400
Gears $200-300 depending on brand
Labor $400
Misc parts like diff fluid/install kit etc $??

Your quote may be a bit high but not way off. I bought all my own parts and was charged $400 by a shop. I think I was at $1100 out the door but with no warranty (because I brought my own parts in)

Shops here around central AR charge around $200 for LSD and Gear install if you provide the parts.

Mine was awhile ago now, but
Gears: $200
Axle Bearings: $150
Posi: $400
Labor: $250
Misc. Seals, Bearings, Fluids: $100

I basically got everything replaced in my rearend for the same price as your shop quoted. About 200-250 for a gear instal is fair IMO. But remember even if you are keeping your gears, a posi install will run the same, because it's the same amount of work.

That's high. You should be able to get the labor for $300 from a reputable shop. The gears should be around $200 if you go with a brand like Yukon, master install kit $100, LSD ~$450 - for a total of ~$1,000.

Sounds to me like they want to overhaul the whole shebang. Come to think of it, when I worked at the dealer most techs did full overhauls whenever they had to open a diff. IMO, if it ain't broke don't fix it. When I did my Eaton install, I didn't replace anything but the carrier and carrier side bearings...and the old beater had 185k on the rest of it! She's still rollin nice and quiet today

I bought the eaton, gears, and install kit for $640 shipped and install is going to run me $500. I found cheaper prices from side-job mechanics but no one I could really trust.
