Question 2005 silverado crew 1500 z71 gears???

I currently have 3.42 gears on my silverado with 33 inch tires. I swapped a 6.0 in my truck about 20,000 miles ago and I got a little bit of power. Transmission went out so gave me an excuse to build my transmission, way firmer shifts, raised the stall up to about 2300. That helped out a good bit off the line. My dad has the same exact truck with a 5.3 and 3.73. He has same tire size. He gets me off the line but I start catch him and slowly pull away. Will I notice anything if I go to 3.73s or should I go ahead and go to 4.10. I drive on the highway just about every day during the week. But on weekends I pull a 20' enclosed trailer. And I like to do a little bit of racing. What should I do?

Yes, you'd notice a difference with 3.73's but it's won't be a lot. Other option is to get rid of the heavy tires.

Going to 4.10's is wanted anyway with those size tires, highway rpm will increase and mileage may suffer depending on driving habits. Drive 5mph slower on the freeway and you may keep it the same or heck it might not change at all.

Right now at 70mph I am at 1900rpms. If I didn't have the 6.0 you can imagine the downshifting. But it is a little better than what it was but I still don't have all the power I want.

58@1900 I think I had 3.54s I can't remember it was a dog and got terrible mpg. The 4.56s make me drive slower so I get better mpg now. Only thing kinda bad about the 456 is it takes more effort to find passing gear. A lot of time it wants to just stay in 4th and speed up. Gotta really mash or sometimes it won't drop down at all. Tuned with 410 may be a better option. I haven't returned after long tubes and cai yet maybe it will help. I learned a new driving style and would go back with 4.56 tomorrow. Anything ever happens to 5.3 it will more than likely get a 6.0

70@2250 with 285/70/17 bfg all terrain E rated

My opinion you should skip at least 1 size to make it worth the effort, so 4.10s would be what you want. I had a lifted ext cab with 35s and went from 3.73s to 4.56 and it helped out a ton obviously in the power department, but mileage actually stayed about the same. The 3.73s had more variation (like 12-18mpg max), but the 4.56 averaged about the same (13-16mpg max).
