2002 Chevy Silverado rear end problem
I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado z71 and every time I put it in gear it pops and when I drive down the road it makes a nose that sounds like a belt is bad I'm really hoping I don't have to put a new rear end in it I checked the fluid it's only half full and black as night any clues on wether i should drain the fluid or start lookn for new gears or a rear end for it it's a stock rear end I'm unsure of witch rear end it has

It could be the bearings are all screwed but it's hard to just guess at it from my computer.
Bad u-joints will clunk when shifting too and if the splines on the driveshaft going into the rear of the transmission or transfer case are dry it can clunk too. A good coating of grease will make it nice and quiet again.
