Default 14b sf T/A Girdle Fluid Capacity

Hey guys, i threw a t/a girdle on my 14b sf today. This sucker drank 2 gal of fluid to reach the bottom of the fill port and still isnt running out. I know the factory spec is somewhere around 3.5-4qts and t/a claims to add a pint of capacity. Should I have only put 4-4.5qts in even though it wouldnt reach the fill port? Or did i do right by filling it til it reached the fill port? 2 gallons is alot of fluid for a rear end. But the fill port is in the upper 1/3rd of the case.

Yours still only supposed to fill to the factory fill hole... That may be your problem.

Interesting, my 14bsf with a big aftermarket cover takes about a gallon to fill.

Really? I didnt know that... I thought it was on the axle itself.

Read the instructions, they probably want you to fill below the hole

Did you have the rear of the truck jacked up and not the front?

Isnt the factory fill hole near the pinion?

Truck was on level ground. I looked for a fill hole near the pinion and didnt see one. I'll look a little better later.
