07 Denali AWD to 2wd?
I just bought an 2007 yukon Denali. When a major AWD component goes out I'm switching to 2wd and ripping all the AWD crap out. Truck has 113k miles. I cover 25k miles a year. How long you think the AWD will last before something gives out? For 2wd conversion all I need is front frame crossmember, 2wd transmission mount and 2wd spindles with 2wd driveshaft?

Have you considered just welding the transfer case and then removing your front axle and drive shaft? You can put a cap on the front DS input to keep dirt out.
Other option is to get a new tranny and crossmember.
The front axle issue they are talking about is that the carrier bearings go bad. It is an easy fix.

How about sell it and get a 2wd yukon then upgrade interior parts to Denali parts.
ALOT Cheaper and doesnt completely RUIN a Denali.
Why did you even buy the denali if you dont want AWD, thats just about as tarded as it comes.
The purchase price of a clean denali vs a clean yukon is substantial. so much so the difference in price could buy a pull out 6.0 and wrap or replace all the dash bezels to Denali style PLUS catskin wrap the seats.
Far less work, upscales value of the Yukon vs Descaling denali value.
I dont understand.

My prices were as follows, you naysayers try to keep up.
New:
Built 2wd 4l60e : $1k
4" .125 New DS: $425
Crossmember modification: $0
Circle D converter (not required): $450
Sold:
4wd 4L60e: $350
AWD diff: $350
Front diff and both shafts: $250
Front axles: Trash $0
Variances:
Stock 2wd DS can be bought for $250 (for my model)
Trans crossmember could be bought for $50
Could have went with a used 2wd trans possibly cutting the price in half.
Can use the stock converter
Do the math, I completed the swap, it can be done for next to nothing out of pocket depending on what exact parts you select. I chose to upgrade some so I footed the extra bill. The point is it's not an unreasonable option to consider. I got rid of both sets of hard lines under the engine (oil and trans cooler) and rerouted the exhaust and it is amazing what you can see and work on under this truck now, its a thing of beauty.
