I'd never want to deal with the 07-08 oil leaking problems (most have likely been fixed) and they still had the 4L60e from 07-09 with only the crew cab LTZ's getting the 6L80e in 2009.
09 SLE crew cabs came with the 6l80 as well I had one.

kinda hard to decide on which I like more... The nbs is simple and easy to mod, the nnbs is easy to mod just more little things to do. Like said above I would only get a 6l80 nnbs. Kinda hard to say which is nicer, I love the RST/Joe Gibbs and VHO trucks but the interiors and creature comforts the nnbs come with are nice. I couldn't choose so I own both lol... If you decide to go nnbs try and find a 6.2/6l80 truck they are fun quick trucks.

If it's paid off, keep it.

I own a 05 silverado and IMO nbs are the best looking. If you want to boost your truck and run flex, from what I have been told the newer trucks have better computers for that though. Also the newer card style MAF sensors allow more boost before needing to go speed density. The nnbs are supposed to be more aerodynamic. Lastly for me I wished I had stabilitrak the couple of times I got in emergency braking situations at over 100mph.
