20x8.5 Centerline Stingrays with brand new BFG Rugged Terrain 275/60/20 weigh in at 66lbs. BFG advertises 42lbs for the tire so the math puts the wheel at 24lbs.

so how much weight does it take to make a noticeable difference? Say 70 to 90 lbs going to change how the truck drives? I need to weigh my 20s with 275/55 goodyears, probably about 80-90 lbs

i know when i went from my 15 to 18 on my 4.3l i could tell a difference in how it accelerated. 15's were like 48lbs and the 18's came to 68lbs.

I went from the chrome Tahoe LTZ 20s @ 84lbs a piece to NNBS Sierra 17s that weighed in at 64lbs a piece. Granted the tires were a tad shorter (32s compared to 33s) on the Sierras and I already have a big gear (4.56s) I could still EASILY tell a big difference in how the truck drove.

You get a gyroscope type effect at high speed with big wheels. When I bought the truck it had 20s with 33" Nitto Mud Grapplers that weighed 114lbs a piece and it felt like the truck was driving itself at highway speeds. I went from those to a set of 285/75/16 BFG ATs on super light MB motoring rims that were 62lbs a piece and it felt like an entirely different vehicle. Braking, accelerating, and turning were all easier. Plus my average gas mileage went from 11.5mpg to 13.6mpg.

Well I need to weigh mine to see how heavy they are, and then post em to craigslist to find any takers! I'd really like some Centerline Stingray III 18x9. I figure I could shave somewhere around 25-30lbs per wheel going that route; 100-120lbs in total wheel weight I'm sure would make a big difference. My heavy 5.3 Crew with 3.08s is such a dog and I'm already gathering parts to swap up to 3.73 this spring.

Is this considered light or heavy? Yes, we have an old school scale...

Heavy but expected for stock wheels and tires of that size. My old SS wheels and tires were right around the same.

That's actually not bad man. I think it's probably because those wheels have the plastic chrome clad over them and they're not actual real chromed aluminum. Not that it's a big deal as it obviously saves weight.
