Time should open the options up. Hopefully we will see a 5.6 frontier when nissan stops making its own titan.

That would be nice, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how the economy/gas prices look a couple years down the road. I'd consider buying it ONLY if it could come in 6spd. I'd like the VK56, but I sure as hell love my 6spd...

The Titan is already built at Dodge plants now. That's why I won't buy one.

Hmm...I thought it wasn't until 2010 or 2011 that that was going to happen...

Whenever. I'm not a big fan of the Titan but more so the engine it has.

DOHC 5.6L with decent power but horrible horrible mpg. Both GM and Dodge make more powerful engines that get better gas mileage and with "1950s technology". I don't know of anyone that owned a Titan for more than a year before selling it and buying a Ford, Dodge, or GM truck. The Tundra is 10x the truck the Titan is it just also cost almost 10x as much. lol

The Frontier/Xterra to me though is almost unbeatable in the midsize department. My xterra is so much better built than my mom's explorer and with more power to boot.

Well GM's 6.0L and certainly Dodge's new Hemi is more powerful then the 5.6L VK. But where the Titan makes up for it's "lack of power" is through the drive train. I wish I could find the graph for you, but the stock Titan puts down more power than the older 5.7L Hemi, and certainly more then GM's 5.3L and Ford's 5.4L Triton. It may not posses huge numbers at the crank, but it puts it to the ground.

X2 about the Frontier/Xterra being a damn solid truck.

I like the Titan. I do. I wanted one. But the biggest turn off wasn't really the power. It was the mpg. Everyone I talked too that owned one and everyone I knew that owned one all said the MPGs suck big time. Under 15mpg out the door. I know some exaggerate but my dad's 99 GMC 2500 4x4 w/ 6.0L gets on average 18-22mpg. He's almost 60 so he drives slow but still.

They do however look friggin insane with a lift, mud grips, nose gaurd, and some American Racing off road rims.

I agree about the poor mpg stock. 15mpg sounds about right. I do though know of some Titan owners though that have done the basic intake, exhaust, and Uprev tune and even with 35" M/T's get 20 mpg. I must say though Chevy does make some solid engines and some solid trucks, but that Titan you described at the end there does take the cake!

No doubt Nissan has some of the best looking vehicles on the road. That's why I got my xterra. I wanted the OFFROAD model but in hawaii they wanted way too much and I need a vehicle with some interior room.

Wish I had held out for another 2 weeks though. They got a 4x4 Quad Cab Frontier at that dealership.
