I have actually had this idea. I like the early 90's ford F-150 trucks, but their engines suck.

yeah GM motors are cheaper because they sell more motors than vehicles to put them in. also auto parts stores no matter which one you go into 70% of inventory is GM parts. i was tempted to do a GM swap into my truck until ford stepped up their game and blew away everyone with the 5.0 and 6.2 finally put good heads on a reliable and durable short block.

Reliable.....like they have lasted for a year???? How many of the new Ford 5.0/6.2's are rockin strong with 200K?? Zero!
What would it cost to go out and buy one right now? I would bet you could do ALOT to an 6.0 for what you will pay for a stock Ford that has been out for MAYBE 18 months.

i said durable and reliable shortblock of the modular motors.. not the new 5.0 and 6.2 they are still working the bugs out of those, just like the years it took to work the piston slap out of the 5.3 and 6.0 motors

I still dont see where you can say durable and reliable when its a completely redesigned engine??

I am not trying to get into the whole who is better because I think that the new Ford powertrains are very enticing and IF i were to buy a new truck right now it would be a Ford with either the 5.0 or the 6.2 I am just leery on the durability of a "new" engine from anyone. So as stated first I will wait and see how they last.
